The goal of APLP programs is to introduce girls to the continuum of successful women leaders in the past and present and to familiarize them with the skills they need to join that continuum. APLP programs approach contemporary concerns through the example of women leaders, including Alice Paul, who can serve as role models to young women today.

 

Alice Paul Leadership Program

 

Grapes at Paulsdale? Yes! A new girls group has formed over the summer for girls entering fifth, sixth and seventh grades. Calling themselves GRAPEs (Girls Recognizing Alice Paul's Enthusiasm), the girls meet on the third Tuesday of the month to join in conversation and activities specially for girls. There's a G.O.L.D. rush at Paulsdale!

API's G.O.L.D. (Girls Overnight Leadership Development) program is ready to go this fall for girls in grades 4-8. This overnight girls-only program includes tons of fun activities like arts and crafts, leadership exercises, movies, music, yoga, team games, and more! Girls leave with new friends, new skills, and cool stuff! G.O.L.D. takes place at Paulsdale, a 200-year-old farmhouse in Mt. Laurel that was the birthplace of Alice Stokes Paul (1885-1997), a leader in the fight for women's rights.
 

  • Open to girls ages 8 and older

  • Registration fee $30 (includes a G.O.L.D. T-shirt, evening snacks and breakfast)

  • Time: 7:00 to 7:00 a.m.

  • Place: Paulsdale 128 Hooton Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054

  • Date: See table below for dates

  • Bring a sleeping bag, pillow and PJs

Leadership: Share Your Voice

a one-day workshop for eighth-grade girls to share their ideas about    leadership and their futures.

Lead-A-Way

a ten-week series of workshops for eighth-grade girls to develop basic leadership skills and learn about women who have used those skills to change the world.

Looking at Careers

A workshop that introduces high school students to careers and the women who take leadership positions in their career paths.

Girls Advisory Council

Teams of students, ages 10-18, that design and evaluate leadership and history programs.

G.O.L.D. (Girls Overnight Leadership Development)

An overnight workshop at Paulsdale for girls, ages 11-15, that builds team leadership skills.

Meeting Alice

A workshop at Paulsdale that introduces elementary school children to Alice Paul and other significant New Jersey women.

 



The Alice Paul Institute received an operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State.
