Girlblazers Summer Camp is a full-day camp for girls entering 5th and 6th grades in fall 2014. Each day, campers learn about components of leadership and women who demonstrate those traits and then apply those lessons in fun, hands-on activities like self-portraiture and wood crafting. At Girlblazers, campers have the freedom to express themselves in a safe, girls-only environment. The girls learn to recognize their own leadership skills and how to use them to affect positive change in their schools and communities.
This five-day camp includes lessons on inspirational role models, field trips, sports and recreational activities. Girls have hands-on leadership experiences in group projects and individual activities. The camp begins with an introduction to Alice Paul and basic definitions of leadership. Each camp session includes activities corresponding to both historic and contemporary women leaders. The girls will take away from the camp an understanding of leadership in action.
