K-12 School Group Programs
Alice Paul & The Leadership Parade (K-2nd)
This two-hour program introduces participants to the life of Alice Paul. It combines educational games and art to help students engage concepts of civic engagement and leadership, and to identify themselves as leaders who can create positive social change.
Meeting Alice (3rd-5th)
This two-hour program offers an in-depth exploration of Alice Paul’s life and the qualities that made her an effective change maker. Students do team activities on voting and citizenship, and explore the historic grounds of Paulsdale where Alice grew up.
Alice Paul: Through the Lens of Leadership (6th-8th OR 9th-12th options available)
This two-hour program offers deep engagement with Alice’s struggle to secure women’s suffrage, and the strategies and tactics that made her such a powerful leader. Students participate in meaningful discussions about leadership and social action, and then do a group activity that challenges them to apply those principles to real-world issues.
NEW! Amending Your Future (9th-12th)
This two-hour high school program introduces students to the process of amending the US Constitution through a case study of the women’s suffrage movement. Through an intersectional lens, guided discussion, storytelling, and primary sources, students examine the process of constitutional change, the role of activism, and the legacy of the ordinary individuals who fought for the 19th Amendment. The program also invites students to reflect on identity, civic participation, and propose their own ideas for a 28th Amendment.
Meeting Alice Assembly (3rd-5th)
This interactive presentation teaches students about civics, voting, and local NJ hero Alice Paul, who was instrumental in securing the passage of the 19th Amendment. The program satisfies NJ Core Curriculum Standards for Social Studies, Civic Education, and Character Development. Suitable for grades 3-5.
Lead-A-Way (6th-8th)
This in-school program takes place as a series of six sessions, each lasting two-hours. Participants learn how to stand out as leaders, gaining inspiration from the female role models highlighted through the program. Participants practice positive communication skills, collaborative teamwork, and refine integrity through activities and team projects. Lead-A-Way is designed to empower young women by teaching them to utilize and better understand the skills they already possess. The program guides participants to use their unique leadership traits to affect positive change in their community. The program includes a visit to historic Paulsdale to learn about Alice Paul’s life and leadership.

Girls Leadership Council
The Girls Leadership Council runs the length of the school year, with members attending monthly meetings online or at Paulsdale. At the meetings, girls explore issues affecting women in the US and around the world. They engage in thoughtful conversations and activities that help them learn how to be effective advocates and allies as they work towards awareness and positive social change. They practice public speaking and networking skills, work with professional female mentors, and attend exciting events that in the past have included the International Day of the Girl at the UN, the Alice Paul Equality Gala, and trips to Washington, D.C., to meet with elected officials and professional advocates and lobbyists. GLC membership is restricted to female-identifying high school students.
