INFO SESSIONS & SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
Mothers and Daughters: Voices of Resilient Immigrant Women Across Generations Growing up as a child of immigrants shapes one’s life in many ways: connecting with new friends who become family, seeking work and educational opportunities, and sometimes acting as a parent’s voice and bridge across cultures. This intergenerational panel brings together immigrant mothers and daughters from our local communities to share their powerful stories of migration and resilience, while reflecting on how they maintain traditional cultural heritage. This program offers a rare, intimate look at how women across the generations shape and sustain community life in New Jersey. Through personal narrative and storytelling, the event invites audiences to reflect on the enduring legacies of immigration in our State.
Site-Specific performance by dance artist Leah Stein and musician Sarah Cunninham Choreographer Leah Stein is known for creating powerful site-specific performances that transform historic places into spaces for reflection, movement, and connection. Internationally acclaimed musician Sarah Cunningham, one of the world’s leading viola da gamba performers, brings a lifetime of artistry rooted in deep listening and the expressive power of music. Together, they’ll present a unique performance at Paulsdale that celebrates history, place, and the enduring voices of women.
Rare Book Show & Tell with BookSmiles Discover the stories behind some remarkable books during a special presentation from our friends at BookSmiles, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy by collecting and distributing quality books to children in underserved communities throughout New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia region. While you’re at the festival, help put more books into the hands of young readers by bringing your gently used children’s books to support BookSmiles’ community book drive.
RYSE: Reclaiming Youth Stories for Everyone Get a first look at RYSE: Reclaiming Youth Stories for Everyone, a youth-led initiative exploring the overlooked stories of the American Revolution. Members of the RYSE Youth Leaders will share some of the research and historical reinterpretations they’ve developed over the past year, offering fresh perspectives on our nation’s founding. Their work will culminate at the RYSE Youth Summit at Paulsdale this September, where young people from across the region will come together to explore a more complete and inclusive history of the American Revolution.
Performance by School of Rock Cherry Hill & Deptford School of Rock provides performance-based music education that helps students — from toddlers to adults — grow into confident, skilled musicians and active members of a supportive community.
